Event approvals

Bolton Local, pot luck, 3pm-7pm @ Pavilion; Sept 10, Maya Parekh

Bolton/Harvard Open Studios, 9/30-10/1 @ Town Common; Yvette Monistad Artisans    Group;  Boy Scouts will guard exhibits overnight by camping out

Follow up from Memorial Day / May 29th refreshments; we now know to be ready by 10:15am. Food preparations were excellent, very little waste.

Follow up from Backyard Bolton /  May 13th; attendance seemed average, parking was not a problem but cones and yellow tape are essential to maintain order; event seemed short at only 3 hours.

Plan Summer Outing to hold at Boy Scout Camp Resolute property;

Discussion on Family Summer Event at Camp Resolute

  • A “Family Fun Day” has been suggested on a weekend in August, centered on the use of the waterfront with its large dock complex. We need to negotiate whose lifeguards will be used.
  • We also need to negotiate a number of issues:
  • - use of their camp’s kayaks and canoes
    - will their inflatable island/iceberg will be available
    - can we use their grills to cook our own food
    - are ice cream (or Kona ice) trucks permitted on the property
    - can we play music on the intercom?
    - would games like basketball, cornhole, Frisbee golf be allowed
  • A price of $20 per car was recommended, We need to discuss with Resolute. $20 was thought to cover expenses to conduct the event and have a positive impact on the relationship between BPRC and Resolute.
  • Would noon to 5pm be OK with Resolute?
  • Would August 5th (or 6th) be OK with them. We believe their program ends August 4th.
  • Ed and Lisa will meet with camp management at Resolute to discuss next steps.

Approval for $ spending

Red cross training services & cards - $240

  Bathing suits & apparel - $194

Supplies for Summer programs -$400, changed to $1,000.00, originally requested $400 but Commissioners agreed that more supplies will be needed during the Summer for the programs.  Changed request to $1k moved and seconded

Camp Resolute officers have invited Bolton P&R Commission (BPRC) to use the camp when Scouts are not resident, meaning during the week and off-season.  A fee structure for this use remains to be negotiated.
