Open Space & Recreation Plan Survey

This is of utmost importance for the community (not only residents) to provide feedback through. This survey be the starting point of updating the OSRP to begin January 2023.

There is also an opportunity to provide interest in participating in the subcommittee that is tasked with reviewing and updating the plan.

The Town of Bolton Open Space and Recreation Plan (“OSRP”) is once again necessary.

The Town’s OSRP expires in 2024.

The OSRP needs to be updated to:

• Call out achievement and progress on all prioritized Action Items based on previous goals

• Re-evaluate and update Community Goals, Objectives, and Needs in open space and recreation,

  also review and update key sections that have changed, including Population Characteristics,

  Growth and Development Patterns, and Inventory of Lands

• Keep Bolton eligible for various state funding opportunities.

The first objective for this 2024 version of The Plan is to assemble a core team to work on the update. Since it is critical for the town’s boards, commissions, and citizens to be in synch, this is a request for any citizen who is interested may have an opportunity to work on this important project.

The Plan is and will continue to be critical in conserving and protecting the town’s unique character and historical value, and in providing a pro-active approach in managing the pressures of inevitable development. The updated OS&R Plan will allow the town to re-identify, prioritize, and continue to protect key resources, including water areas, aquifers, and recreation areas, as well as the open spaces, orchards, farms, forests, and country roads that give Bolton its rural and enduring charm.
