A meeting of the Bolton Agricultural Commission was held on October 30th at Town Hall. The meeting was called

to order at 7:30pm. In attendance were: Martha Ashe, Joe Kovacs, and Sue Storbeck.

First item was to discuss the AgComm Workshop to be held on Saturday, December 8 in Marlboro. All Bolton

AgComm members should have received email concerning this and are encouraged to attend. Each town’s

Agcomm in attendance is asked to appoint one member as a contact person and to answer 3 questions before

the workshop. Joe Kovacs will be Bolton AgComm's contact person. The questions are:

1. What is your AgCom doing?

2. What is your AgCom planning to do?

3. What issues do you need help with?

Next item of business was to discuss meeting with the Board of Health and the Conservation Committee in order

to introduce ourselves and to see if they have ideas or concerns we should know about and add to our worklist. A

meeting with the Board of Health is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13 at 7:15 pm. Joe Kovacs will look into

the AgComm meeting with the Conservation Commission either the last week of November or early December.

Also Joe will see that these meetings (as well as our November 20 meeting) are posted with the town.

Next up was discussion of the worklist begun at the last meeting. Joe Kovacs will add the new items brought up to

the draft worklist. Besides the members contributing to this list, it was decided to invite the Agriculture Steering

Committee members to come to a meeting or email members with their ideas. Joe Kovacs will send email to the

members with this invitation. Susan Storbeck will write a letter or article for the newspaper to ask the town for

ideas also. Once a list is made, the AgComm can prioritize the list. After the AgComm has done this, the

information will be presented to the Selectmen - probably in January.

The Right to Farm notification was next discussed. The Right to Farm bylaw requirement that a notification be

included in the town census was discussed. Martha Ashe will call the town clerk to see if the AgComm needs to

take any action to make that happen. Also Joe Kovacs will see that the notification is posted on the website,

which needs updating as well.

Next discussion centered around how the AgComm may function. A suggestion was made that once the worklist

is completed and prioritized, it would be presented to the Board of Selectmen. Then each member would adopt

item(s), recruit others to help as needed, and then report back to the AgComm on their progress.

Meeting adjourned.
