Bolton’s original Hazard Mitigation Plan was first approved by FEMA on February 05, 2010. The Plan has now been updated and approved by FEMA.

Planning for the Hazard Mitigation Plan update was led by the Bolton Local Hazard Mitigation Planning Team, composed of staff from a number of different town departments.  This team met several times, over a full year's time during 2018, where the impacts from natural hazards may most-affect the town, goals for addressing these potential impacts, review aand updates to the Town’s existing mitigation measures, and propose new or revised hazard mitigation measures that would benefit the town in the event of disaster.

Key town stakeholders and neighboring communities were notified and invited to review the draft plan and submit comments. The Town’s Board of Selectmen hosted two public meetings and the draft plan was submitted to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) in late fall 2018. MEMA approved the DRAFT Plan and submitted it to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for final approval and adoption. FEMA's final approve made the Bolton Hazard Mitigation Plan official in January, 2019.
