 HeatSmart Bolton Harvard Ending Soon

The cheaper, cleaner alternative to heating and cooling your home is here! Bolton and Harvard volunteers teamed up under Mass CEC (Clean Energy Center)/DOER (Department of Energy Resources) to bring you HeatSmart Bolton Harvard.

There is still time to Join your neighbors who are realizing the following  HeatSmart  benefits:

·   Cleaner and more-efficient cold-climate air source (ASHP) or ground source (GSHP) heat-pump heating & cooling with lower operating cost and increased comfort. Instead of burning fuel, heat pumps transfer heat in and out of buildings to provide efficient heating and cooling in one system

·   Qualified, competitively-selected  heat pump installers: Boucher Energy Systems (ASHP) and Bill Wenzel Heating & Air Conditioning (GSHP), providing up to 15% discounts

·   Education, assistance, and conservation advice (e.g. Heat Pump Hot Water Heater selection) from CEC and your HeatSmart volunteers

·   Reduced use of expensive, non-renewable fuels that pollute our air with greenhouse gasses (GHG)

In addition to saving money and improving your comfort, modern heat pumps can help the environment for everyone! Heating and cooling using fossil fuels currently contributes 30% of GHG in Massachusetts, so reducing that is necessary to meet the state target GHG reduction goals of 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050 (per CEC).

HeatSmart is similar to successful Solarize Mass Harvard and Bolton programs that brought 860 kW of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to our towns. But it is instead focused on efficient heating and cooling powered by electricity (increasingly from renewable sources). HeatSmart is a great complement to PV Solar, reducing or even zeroing utility bills.

As of June 22, we have 151 unique leads with 21 contracts already signed (13 Air source and 8 Ground Source (Geothermal) and 78 awaiting decision. But the contract signature deadline is July 31 and unlikely to be extended. So don’t miss out…. sign up now for a free, no-obligation site visit by one of our selected installers!

Three ASHP and one GSHP Installations have been completed as of June 15. Installations may continue for up to one year after contract signing.

Although several MassSave partners offer home energy assessments, Mass CEC/DOER have teamed with HomeWorks to pilot an enhanced home energy assessment, also free, which goes beyond conventional assessments to better prepare your home for heat pump installation. It is offered exclusively to the first 100 qualifying HeatSmart Bolton-Harvard potential customers and there are still over 40 slots open! So sign up now for a free, no-obligation enhanced home energy assessment.

The HeatSmart program dovetails nicely with community-choice aggregation (CCA), now underway in Harvard to provide renewable, low-cost electricity. For more details, contact Eric Broadbent, Harvard HeatSmart Coach.
