Bolton and Harvard Selected for HeatSmart Mass
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) have selected, via a competitive bid process, seven communities (4 teams, including Bolton and Harvard) for the pilot round of the HeatSmart Mass program. Details are included in:
HeatSmart Mass seeks to increase the adoption of small-scale clean heating and cooling technologies in participating communities through a competitive solicitation process that aggregates homeowner buying power to lower installation prices for participants.
"The participating communities will offer the following technologies to residents:
Bolton and Harvard: Air-source heat pumps, ground-source heat pumps
Carlisle, Concord, and Lincoln: Air-source heat pumps, ground-source heat pumps and modern wood heat
Great Barrington: Air-source heat pumps
Nantucket: Air-source heat pumps and solar hot water”
Next steps include supporting MassCEC/DOER in issuing an installer RFP by Monday, Nov 20, volunteer training at the MassCEC office in Boston (or dial-in), setting up the Bolton-Harvard HeatSmart website, and promotion of energy audits. The outlook for selecting installers is January, 2018 and we plan Customer Sign-ups during February through July. Installations may continue for up to one year after contract signature. The towns will be providing additional information about the program over the next few months through information sessions, newspaper articles, email lists, the website, and mailings.
