Bolton Historical Commission                 11/1/2017               Meeting called to order at 6:10

Absent:            W. Nickles, J. Padovano        

                       

Minutes:  Minutes for 10/4/17 were not available; minutes for 10/18/17 were reviewed and approved.

 

Updates:

649 Main St.:  The letter from G. Roy is still outstanding.

258 Hudson Rd.:  No further information.

Wilder Rd. culvert plaque:  Stone and mounting to be discussed.

Camp Virginia:  The recent logging and environmental damage there was discussed in light of the Oct. 28 site walk.

Tadmor FOSPRD:  The ZBA hearing is closed.  There was discussion of what was said at the hearing, including comments on the lack of planting at the dead-end turn-around.

718 Main St. hearing:  There was discussion of some of the problems with the present proposal:  traffic, parking, what type of business might be there, the future of the current apartments upstairs.  There is to be a further hearing on Nov. 13.

Pan Cemetery:  Fannin-Lehner has finished work on the current phase at this cemetery.

Complete Streets meeting:  At a recent meeting there was discussion of the intersection of Main St. with Green and Forbush Mill roads, at the high school.  Issues of a passage across Rte. 117 are on hold.

 

Mail Received:  An additional solicitation from The National Trust for Historic Preservation; notice of a ZBA hearing on 91 Burnham Rd.

 

The Commission approved payment of a membership in Historic New England.

 

New Topics:

Discussion of what is appropriate signage within the NRHD, in light of request for sign at 727 Main St.

Discussion of drainage issues at Persons Park.  The Selectmen okayed repairs to be performed on the west side of the cottage at the expense of Friends of Persons Park.

Reminder of articles involving parking in the town center for the May 2018 town meeting.

Reminder of upcoming events: Special Town Meeting 11/27 on Camp Virginia purchase; voting on purchase on 12/5.

Discussion of preservation restrictions on several houses in Bolton

Discussion of level funding of budget for FY 18-19.
