The Treasurer is appointed by the Board of Selectmen and serves a 3-year term. The Treasurer is responsible for the financial obligations to the Town as described in the General Laws.
General Responsibilities
The Treasurer can place and remove liens as a result of municipal obligations and payments. The Treasurer pays all Town vendors and manages the Town’s payroll The Treasurer reconciles the Town’s bank accounts, and stores and checks the records, lie maintains all records required by law The Treasurer manages all Town funds in a manner which provides for an orderly flow of cash to meet payments when due, and at the same time maximizes additional income through the investment of idle funds.
Bonded Indebtedness
Bolton , as is the case with other governmental institutions, on occasion will issue bonds to raise money for certain projects or expenditures. The Treasurer also monitors and manages the Town’s bonded debt.
