RENOVATION/EXPANSION UPDATE:
The Library Trustees offer their sincere thanks to everyone who voted to support the library's proposed expansion and renovation.  To date, the capital campaign has received over $900K in donations and pledges in support of the project. A construction committee began meeting in December 2006.  Daedalus Projects, Inc. is our Owner's Project Manager (OPM).  The latest designs by our architects, Lerner | Ladds + Bartels of Providence, RI, will be displayed here soon.

Minutes and agendas of the Library Board of Trustees and the Library Construction Committee can be found on the Library Trustees' page (click on the Related Pages link above).

For more information, questions, or comments about the renovation and expansion, please contact Trustee Chair Bob Zak (robert.zak@comcast.net).

The Bolton Public Library established on a few shelves in what is now the Selectmen's room at Town Hall.  In 1901 sisters Emma and Anna Whitney approached the town with a gift of $10,000 and a proposal to build a library in memory of their father, Captain Joseph Whitney.  The town agreed, and the cornerstone was placed in 1903.  Easily the town's most architecturally distinctive public building, the library was designed by Stone, Carpenter, and Willson of Providence, R.I.  It opened to the public in June 1904.

Today, the Bolton Public Library serves the community as a center for self-education, culture, recreation, and information, via materials and programs,  for people of all ages.  The library houses over 25,000 items including books, recorded books (on cassette and CD), movies (on VHS and DVD), and more.  The library also offers free internet access (both wireless and wired).  Bolton Public Library is a member of C/W MARS network and of Central MA Regional Library System.
