Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for

Architectural Feasibility and Preliminary Design Services

for a Proposed Public Safety Building


In accordance with Massachusetts Designer Selection Law, M.G.L. Chapter 7, Sections 38 A ½ - O, the Bolton Public Safety Building Task force (PSBTF), on behalf of the Board of Selectmen, is seeking proposals for architectural services relating to the proposed renovation and expansion of the Fire Station, located at 15 Wattaquadock Hill Road, Bolton, MA, to become a Public Safety Center, housing the police, fire, and ambulance departments for the town.  The estimated project cost is $6 million. The preliminary schematic designs, site evaluation studies, phased work plan, and cost estimates are scheduled for Spring/Summer 2007, with a presentation ready for Town Meeting in Fall 2007.  Documents from previous studies are available online at: http://www.townofbolton.com/Pages/BoltonMA_BComm/police Minimum requirements include current license and registration by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an architect or professional engineer, with a minimum of five years experience. These design services include engaging the services of other licensed engineers and consultants, such as electrical, HVAC, and other professionals as needed.  The designer’s fee shall not exceed $15,000.  A pre-bid informational session will be held June 6, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Fire Station.  The RFQ documents will be available after 1:00 p.m. on May 21, 2007 in the Town Secretary’s office, located in the Bolton Town Hall, 663 Main Street, Bolton, MA 01740.  Requests may be made in person, via email secretary@townofbolton.com or by telephone 978-779-2297, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., M, W, Thu, and 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.  Proposals are due to: Jodi Ross, Town Administrator, Town Hall, 663 Main Street, Bolton, MA 01740 no later than 2:00 p.m. on June 14, 2007 when proposals will be opened and publicly recorded. The PSBTF will evaluate proposals and make a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen, who is the awarding authority.  The town reserves the right to reject any or all proposals if it be deemed in the public’s best interest to do so.  The town encourages MBE/WBE firms to apply and is an EEO employer.
