What is the Inverted Jenny? Find out at the Library on Wednesday, 11/9 at 7 p.m.

Simply stated, the Inverted Jenny is a famous postage stamp.  Issued in 1918, the 24-cent stamp was mistakenly printed with the image of an airplane flying upside-down.  Postal clerks, many of whom had never seen an airplane, didn't realize there was a mistake and offered the stamps for sale.  Collectors quickly flocked to buy them and prices quickly escalated.  In the 100+ years since its issue, the Inverted Jenny has been forged, gone missing, been reissued, and commanded very high prices.

Bolton's own Ed Sterling will tell the fascinating and twisty history of the world's rarest postage stamp at the Bolton Public Library on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m.  The talk is suitable for all ages, free of charge, and likely far more interesting than anything on TV that night.

Come on over to 738 Main Street and walk through history with us!
