Lifeguards Needed for Town Beach
— Summer 2010 —
The Bolton Parks and Recreation Commission is in the process of recruiting lifeguards for the 2010 season at the Bolton Town Beach. Lifeguards must be at least 16-years-old and all candidates must meet the Massachusetts state standards for lifeguarding , which are included below.
Lifeguards will earn $11.50/hr., well above the Massachusetts average of $8.66/hr.
Interested candidates must:
- Copy of proof of age (birth certificate, drivers license, state ID or passport)
- Copies of current certifications (valid through the entire swimming season).
- If under 18, a release of liability (waiver release - minor).
The Bolton Parks and Recreation Commission will review all applications at our April 7 meeting and then contact all candidates for the position and schedule an interview.~ Final decisions will be made prior to May 24.
Lifeguarding Requirements
All lifeguards must be at least 17-years-of-age and must be certified in three general areas: Lifeguard Training, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The following list highlights those training programs which meet our certification requirements.
*Applicants need only possess one of the listed certifications in each category.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training; or
- YMCA Lifeguarding
- American Red Cross Community First Aid & Safety; or
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid; or
- National Safety Council “Green Cross” 8 Hour First Aid course
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer / AED; or
- American Heart Association CPR for the Health Care Provider issued within the last year.
*Note: According to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), this is a partial listing of acceptable certifications. If your certificate is not listed above, please email parks@townofbolton.com and the Commission will check to see if your certification meets the state’s certification requirements.
