The Bolton Affordable Housing Partnership is a formal town group that helps to facilitate the availability of affordable housing in our community. The partnership consists of 5 to 11 members elected by the Board of Selectmen and is intended to be as diverse as possible in order to reach consensus on affordable housing issues that reflect community goals and character.
The functions of the Partnership include:
• Develop action plans based on housing needs studies
• Establish criteria to evaluate affordable housing proposals
• Recommend pros & cons of particular housing proposals
• Identify local, state, and federal developmental resources
• Identify land requirements suitable for development
• Review land use regulations and zoning bylaws
• Work with developers of affordable housing
• Increase public awareness with forums and other events
More information regarding its structure, mandate, and public presentations, please refer to the library documents list.
Department Goals:
1. Continue to research, strategize and plan to maintain our certification of compliance with planned production of Affordable Housing as certified by DHCD beyond 2007
2. Work with the Housing Authority to resolve the deed rider issues that will continue at Bolton Woods Way if changes are not made
3. Improve communication, outreach and education within the Bolton Community regarding the BAHP, affordable housing issues and current and proposed projects within our town.
