Town of Bolton Energy Committee Proposal

Residents please sign up for a CLEAN ENERGY alternative!

The Bolton Energy Committee would like all Bolton ratepayers to be aware that you have an opportunity to "green up" your electricity supply and earn money for clean, renewable energy projects for Bolton.  Through National Grid's GreenUpSM program, you can choose to pay a small premium for renewable energy on your electric bill.  When you do, the State's Clean Energy Choice® program matches a portion of your payment for Bolton.  To date, Bolton has earned $8,000 and we can earn much more when additional households sign up (visit www.cleanenergychoice.org for more information).

The GreenUp program offers a way to match your household consumption with electricity from clean sources (solar, wind, water, and biomass).  The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC)'s Clean Energy Choice program provides grants to towns when residents participate in GreenUp.  Together these programs produce the following significant benefits:
circlebullet.jpgPaying a small premium not only generates clean energy grants for Bolton, but also means that for each kilowatt hour of electricity you receive from the grid, an equivalent amount of electricity from renewable sources is put into the grid.  You will be effectively running your house on renewable energy;
circlebullet.jpgFull or partial tax deductions are available for the nominal additional expense if you itemize;
circlebullet.jpgMTC will provide a matching grant for low-income renewable energy projects throughout Massachusetts; and
circlebullet.jpgThe BEST reason… YOU will be choosing a CLEAN energy source to match your family's electricity needs, providing a fine example for your children and doing your part to improve life here on PLANET EARTH.  You will help to make a difference that will be APPRECIATED BY GENERATIONS to come!

All you have to do to take advantage of this program and take action is to send in the attached card.

Additional ways you can make a difference include:
circlebullet.jpgExamining your energy usage at home and at work and reducing where possible;
circlebullet.jpgConsider getting a MassSave energy audit for your home to learn tricks to reduce your energy usage  (www.masssave.com); and

Thanks for considering ways you can help!
