Brief synopsis of the actions of the Special Town Meeting

Article 1: Community Preservation Act
Passed Yes – 134 No – 92 as printed in the warrant with a unanimous vote to amend (in bold) the last part of the last sentence to read: and to exempt from the surcharge $100,000 of the value of each taxable parcel of residential real property and property owned and occupied as a domicile by a person who would qualify for low income housing or low or moderate income senior housing in the Town:
Article 2: Amendment to the Administrative Bylaws to Insert a Section Entitled Community Preservation Committee –
Passed unanimously with the following changes:
1. Remove the number 20 from the bylaw. The appropriate number to be given at a later date.
2. Remove the “ from between the ( and Committee)
3. Remove the words city or from the second sentence of paragraph D.
4. Add to the end of 1. .6 --- In the event that the Community Preservation Act is not duly adopted by the Town on May 14, 2007, this Community Preservation Committee bylaw shall not take effect
A motion was made and defeated to amend the percentage from 3 to 1.
